A charming place has recently opened in downtown Fullerton . Its name is The Twisted Vine, Wine Bar and Shop. Inspired by numerous trips to Napa, a young couple, Chris and Jessica Castillo, armed with their love and knowledge of fine wines, have created a most unique lounge. A long bar backed by an old brick wall, cozy seating areas, soft music, and dim lighting, create a sophisticated, but also casual and relaxing atmosphere.
The Twisted Vine offers a large collection of fine wines from all over the world: France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Australia, South Africa, Chile, and more. Each wine on the menu is listed with its vintage year, country, province or county of origin. Each wines's characteristics are artfully described; "floral and lemon aromas with an intriguing finish" or "bright tropical fruit with solid oak and clean vibrant finish" or "flavors of peaches and stone with beautifully balanced acidity" They are impossible to resist.
Californian wines are, of course, well represented: Civello Pinot Gris from Santa Barbara, Clos La Chance Zinfandel from the Central Coast, Rosemblum Petite Sirah from the San Francisco Bay Area , and White Hall Lane Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley, recognized by Wine Spectator as one of the Top 50 California Cabernets over the last 20 years.
Like in Napa, The Twisted Vine welcomes tasting prior to ordering. When undecided, ask Matt Plum, the friendly sommelier to guide you. Wine can be purchased by the glass or the bottle. Both prices are listed and vary from $6 to $20 to $21 to $52. Weekly flights priced at $25 include a 3 ounce pour of three selected wines and offer a wonderful opportunity to expand personal wine knowledge without breaking the bank.
Your wine tasting experience would not be complete without the Twisted Vine treats and bites designed by Jessica Castillo~ mouth watering chocolate fondue and chocolate truffles, baked brie, gnocchi, and salami panini and caprese skewers. Sweets and appetizers vary from $6 to $12.
Beer drinkers here need not despair, The Twisted Vine offers several micro brews from Europe and the U.S. As you sip your wine or brew do not forget to take a look at the creative, reasonably priced culinary gifts
