There are many good restaurants. On my recent trip I dined and recommend Anthony’s in the Catalins. Nestled high at the base of the opulent Santa Catalina Mountains and offering magnificent city and mountain views, this proud gastronomic jewel features continental cuisine as well as a wine cellar that holds seven thousand bottles of wine. Serving lunch and dinner . Located at 6440 N. Campbell Avenue. Telephone (520) 299-l77l. Reservations Suggested.
When I think of Arizona I think of beef, cowboys and Indians. That is why I go to Pinnacle Peak, home of the famous cowboy steak. Pinnacle Peak steakhouse is one of the oldest and perhaps the most widely visited restaurant in the state of Arizona. Located in Trail Dust Town they both have become true landmarks after 50 years in operations.
The prices are right and portions are large and the quality is amazing. Entrees are served with salads, beans, potatoes and bread. Open daily. Reservations not necessary. Pinnacle Peak, 65 E. Verde Road. Telephone 520 296-0911.
Le Bistro offers wonderful French and European cuisine in a lovely romantic setting of lush fishtail palms and amber lighting. Chef owner Laurent Reux offers a black board menu of nightly specials. He and his knowledgeable staff offer a casual, yet elegant dining experience. I recommend a true French onion soup, Romaine lettuce tossed in the classic garlic, anchovy dressing with croutons and romano cheese, Escargot served in a casserole with garlic butter and a dome of puff pastry, Sauteed frogs legs in Provincial sauce, and roasted half duck, crispy, served with a raspberry vinegar sauce. An exciting variety of desserts are made fresh daily. The wine list is well balanced and the prices are fair.
Le Bistro is located at 2574 N. Campbell Avenue. Lunch and dinner, closed Monday.
