Meet Me Cafe is a hospitable adventure. With a name like this, who can resist the invitation to explore and sample the fare. Located at 105 N. Robertson Blvd. just north of Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills its entry way is a modest size wooden fence enclosing a delightful outdoor cluster of tables for gazing and grazing.
Inside the very pretty owner Ronit Mory shows her ancestry as a daughter of Bedouins with an unusual cuisine. The Bedouins are a unique nomadic people who have lived in the desert with families and flocks, always on the move, since ancient times.
The decor shows a Middle East ambiance with comforable divans with swatches of sheer curtains hanging seductively from the ceiling; on the right tables for more traditional dining.
What’s to eat? The best and freshest from Ronit’s mother’s recipes. She suggested a House Specialty to start. Humus (a dip with cumin and mashed chick peas; Babaganush which everyone orders; a smoked roasted eggplant dip with fresh pita breads that proved to be irresistable. The Falafel plate also included four falafel balls with that wonderful sesame dip called tahini, and an Israeli chopped salad.
For our main entrees, we enjoyed a Moroccan style whitefish with cilantro tomato sauce and couscous on the side. Dinner pal had the chicken kabobs. The tender chicken filets and vegetables served on skewers also served with couscous or an option of Majadra Basmati rice with lentils.
Meet Me Cafe currently is open for luncheon daily and dinners Wednesday through Saturday. They have a fine selection of juices and coffees among their large hot and cold drink selections as well as wines and beer. Smoothies and milkshakes, too.
We split a dessert, Ronit’s mom’s cake and it was sinfully delicious. So much is offered here, Sandwiches and Salads, Burgers and Wraps.
And the prices are all on the modest side. There is street parking and a parking lot north of the restaurant and across the street. For reservations (310-659-4083. They’re on the net too. www.MeetMeCafe.net.
