25 years of Vittles, Vintages
& Voyages
by Joe Hilbers, publisher-editor
With this
Special Edition Vittles, Vintages & Voyages
begins its 25th year of publishing.
It started with the concept of providing stories on
places that had actually been experienced by the
writer and this has never varied. Whether written by
the Editor or one of the talented professionals
whose bylines appear over the story it represents
the actual experiences.
The 96 previous issues have covered a lot of ground
from Zermat in the shadow of the Matterhorn to the
Copacabana and Ipanema beaches of Rio De Janeiro.
There have been stories from both coasts of Canada;
in the U.S. from Bath, Maine to San Diego and
Seattle, Washington to Miami, Florida.
We have written about visits to historic places like
Valley Forge, The Alamo and that hilltop in Montana
where General Custer and his men died. Visits to 24
National Parks and Monuments have been chronicled.
The Editor is on his fourth computer and the miles
show on him as well. Special mention must be made of
the dedicated writers who have contributed to
Vittles through the decades. Regretfully for some of
these writers their bylines are now gone forever.
We long ago lost count of the number of restaurants
and wines that have been reviewed in Vittles' pages.
However many of Vittles past stories and reviews
remain on the www.vittlesvoyages.com website and
current events on our blog
vittlesvintagesvoyagesblog.blogspot.com.
As for the future we see no reason to change any of
our original concepts and policies. We have always
wanted the publication to be honest, upbeat and
positive. We write about the good leaving the bad
and the ugly for others to chronicle. So we move on
and hope our readers will look forward to future
issues of Vittles, Vintages & Voyages.
